Suba Games Heeds the Call to Bring Back Wizardry Online?

Overlord / Jan 10, 2015 / Publisher News
Did you hear that sound? That's the sound of a big splash coming from a well that most gamers figured had dried up. Recently Suba Games blew up the MMOG world by publicly announcing on their forums that they are interested in reviving Wizardry Online in North America.

Afternoon everyone, it's always great to see people passionate enough to pool together and try to have their voices heard. In this case i want to let you know you all have been heard and Suba is interested in reviving this game. They have actually made contact with the developer but have yet to conclude an outcome with them yet.

That is all the news i am able to offer at this point in time. I also want you all to know each suggestion brought to Subagames is considered and thought about respectively. Feel free to continue bringing game suggestions to Suba, whether it's to revive a game or for Subagames to simply acquire for themselves to publish. As many of you may know, Sony Online Entertainment, announced on January 23, 2014 that it was going to sunset Wizardry Online in North America and Europe. This declaration came as an absolute shock to the Wizardry Online community, since just six days prior SOE Producer Todd Carson announced plans for 2014 declaring the following:

All in all, it looks to be another fun year for Wizardry and we look forward to seeing you in game.

Todd ‘Tanthor’ Carson

However, as only the publisher of this game in NA/EU, they had no control over the fate of this game in other regions of the world. The developer of Wizardry Online, Gamepot by GMO, had no plans to cease further development or publication of this game in Japan, where it continues to thrive.

Like many other MMO's that have suffered a similar fate a small, yet committed group of fans of Wizardry Online, banded together to try and save their beloved game.

These efforts can often seem like a stab in the dark, but this time they've hit their mark. After the sunset the WO community made it a point to stay connected through various social sites geared towards former players of Wizardry Online. It is through this medium that they began to get the word out, developing their own content and working towards making connections with would-be publishers.

If you're a fan of this game or just like rooting for the underdog, then here are some links to help you show your love.

Below is a list of MMO Sites following this breaking news:

About Trebor's Elite Guard (TEG)

Trebor's Elite Guard is a PvE oriented Union (aka Guild) formed out of the ashes of the Closed/Open BETA for Wizardry Online in North America. Known, in-game, as "Knights of Trebor" or "KOT", we have banded together with many former Wizardry Online players in an effort to bring back Wizardry Online to North America and Europe.
